What’s Bluetooth got to do with Security?
Bluetooth is designed to conveniently transfer information from one wireless device to another. However, fraudsters can take advantage of the Bluetooth connections on your phone to scrape personal information, access apps, and track your location.
- Use the following tips to avoid being victimized through Bluetooth:
- Don’t use Bluetooth in crowded locations where fraudsters may be able to eavesdrop.
- Get in the habit of turning off Bluetooth when not in use.
- Update the Bluetooth Personal Identification Number (PIN) in your car.
- Turn off location trackers on apps when not in use.
- On your phone, turn on additional security features for Bluetooth such as authentication and encryption.
