Office of the Comptroller releases how-to video series for users of CTHRU, the Financial Records Transparency Portal for the Commonwealth of Massachusetts

The Office of the Comptroller is pleased to provide additional transparency to its CTHRU platform with a video series for users of CTHRU and the individual datasets therein. 

With the launch of these videos, the Office of the Comptroller hopes that members of the public, researchers, journalists, policymakers, and anyone interested in public finance will be able to more easily use and explore the data encompassed in CTHRU. 

CTHRU is an innovative open records platform, built and maintained by the Office of the Comptroller, that offers transparency into the finances and payroll of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. CTHRU provides users with an intuitive experience for exploring how and where public money is utilized.

CTHRU Statewide Payroll for Beginners

This video is intended as a beginners’ guide to the CTHRU Statewide Payroll module, which provides payroll data for current and former employees of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches, and Constitutional and Independent Offices of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This guide will show you how to look up an individual employee, employees within a department, and employees with a particular job title. 

CTHRU Statewide Spending for Beginners

This video is intended as a beginners’ guide to the CTHRU Statewide Spending module, which provides spending data for current and former employees of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches, and Constitutional and Independent Offices of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This guide will show you how to look up a department’s spending, a vendor, and how to export that data. 

CTHRU Statewide Payroll for Intermediate Users

This video is intended as a guide for intermediate users of the CTHRU Statewide Payroll module, which provides payroll data for current and former employees of the Executive, Legislative, and Judicial Branches, and Constitutional and Independent Offices of the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. This guide will show you how to filter data, drilling down into a department to find payroll broken down by job title or bargaining group. Users will also learn how to filter by full-time or part-time employees. 

CTHRU Statewide Spending for Intermediate Users

This video is intended for intermediate users of the CTHRU Statewide Spending portal. In this guide, users will learn how to find and export a list of payments by a particular department, and how to filter them by object code or appropriation. Users will also learn how to find a specific vendor to the Commonwealth of Massachusetts.
