It’s Tax Time – Watch Out for IRS Scams!

Be on alert for bogus letters, emails, and texts that appear to come from the IRS or your tax professional that request you to provide information related to refunds, filing status, personal information, transcripts, or PIN. Scam emails are designed to trick taxpayers into thinking these are official communications from the IRS or others in the tax industry.

Some email scams include links to bogus websites intended to mirror the official IRS website and direct you to “update your IRS e-File immediately.” Remember that the IRS will not communicate with you through emails, texts, or calls. You should always log in to your account to manage tax filing information.

In addition to your normal incident response protocols, please contact [email protected] with any incidents or suspected incidents of fraud or cyber-attacks or if you need assistance with internal controls.
