EZDriveMA Text Scams
There is an uptick in text scams claiming that the recipient has unpaid tolls from EZDriveMA. Scammers pressure the recipient to follow a link to review outstanding tolls and make payment. In reality, these texts are a ploy to steal the recipient’s personal information or take over their device.
The FBI has been investigating this scam for several months. Phone numbers are picked at random; many of the recipients do not even have EZDriveMA accounts.
Please note: EZDriveMA does not send text messages that include links for users to review tolls or make payment by text.
Use the following Pause Verify Report action steps whenever a suspicious link arrives via text message.
ACTION STEPS:
- Pause: Do not open links, and never respond to an unfamiliar phone number with personal or financial account information
- Verify: If you are concerned about unpaid tolls, go directly to your EZDriveMA account at www.EZDriveMA.com with any questions
- Report: Delete these texts immediately, and report them as junk or spam.
