Cybersecurity Awareness Month kicks off next week
The Office of the Comptroller, in partnership with agencies throughout the Commonwealth, commemorates Cybersecurity Awareness Month, beginning on Sunday, October 1. Keep a look out on MAComptroller.org and our social media channels Facebook, X, and LinkedIn for daily content with best practices for Commonwealth of Massachusetts departments and employees to keep state government (and yourselves!) secure.
Fraudsters and cyber criminals are using more sophisticated tricks all the time, including artificial intelligence. Many of the most successful tactics are designed to trick employees into opening malicious links or attachments. Others hope to process fraudulent transactions to steal public money.
We hope that the resources we provide throughout the month will complement and enhance the mandatory cybersecurity awareness training already in place at departments throughout the state. This is one way that we can help departments throughout the Commonwealth provide ongoing training and reminders to support awareness of cybersecurity and fraud.
