Be on the lookout for the “Say Yes” scam
The “Say Yes” scam is a telephone scam designed to trick individuals into saying the word “Yes.” There are a variety of requests that the caller will say such as:
- “Can you hear me?”
- “Are you there?”
- “Is this [your name]?”
The goal is to record you saying, “Yes,” during the conversation, and then scammers will use your voice recording to confirm the set up of financial accounts or credit card charges.
Action Steps:
- Pause before answering an unknown phone number.
- Verify by researching the number that is calling to make sure it’s not a scam.
- Report and block phone numbers that appear to be scammers.
